SURAT – MUMBAI  : A momentous occasion as Mumbai Maiden, India’s first passenger vessel between Surat – Mumbai  was inaugurated amidst much grandeur at an event hosted at the Hazira Port, Surat in the presence of dignitaries present.

An initiative to promote coastal tourism, Gujarat Government has granted in principle approval to SSR Marine Services Mumbai to operate passenger vessel between Hazira (Surat) to Bandra Worli sea link  (Mumbai).

Capt A.B. Solanki (Chief Nautical Officer GMB), Capt R.P. Mishra ( Port Officer GMB) was present with  Captain Subhash Das ( CEO – Essar Bulk Terminal Limited), Mr Bhaven Bhatt (Resident Director Essar Group) and other dignitaries from trade were present at the event and offered their blessings of good luck, success and safety to Sanjeev Agrwal (CEO, Mumbai Maiden Cruise )  for starting this venture between the coastal cities.

Mumbai Maiden offers passengers travelling to and fro between the two cities a fun, luxurious and leisure cruise experience onboard Mumbai Maiden.  With two decks  and an open sky lounge , it has all the amenities to make the overnight journey a great experience for its passengers, offering the passengers an impeccable experience of travelling in luxury between the two cities.

Initially this service will be weekly and vessel will be departing from Bandra Worli Sealink every Thursday evening around 1700 hrs and arriving Hazira on Friday Morning around 0900 hrs.  Departing from Hazira on Friday around 1700 hrs and arriving Bandra Worli Sealink the very next day morning 0900 hrs. Number of trips will be increased as per the requirement.

The vessel with the  Capacity of 215 having 3 decks to make the voyage luxurious with Indian and global cuisine being served on board. The twin screw vessel is fitted with bow thruster to  ensure better  maneuverability and is well equipped with lounge and cabins for comfortable stay.

We welcome any new innovative idea in maritime domain and Govt is fully committed to make it happen.  We are also in process of preparing cruise policy which will further boost cruise tourism. Gujarat Maritime Board  CEO Shri Mukesh Kumar has worked  tirelessly to operationalise this project in such short span of time”,  said Captain A B Solanki, Chief Nautical Officer, Gujarat Maritime Board.

Capt. Solanki also thanked ESSAR Bulk Terminal to support such initiative and requested to all present dignitaries to experience this service to make it a success.

“We have developed marine terminal and infrastructure required for handling such passenger vessel at our Hazira Terminal. We also have plans for developing further, supporting the cruise tourism initiative of Government or Gujarat by developing ancillary services including a Marina, promenade and ship repair facility at Hazira”,  said  Captain Das – CEO – Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd.
