20180404_173102Godrej Nature’s Basket (GNB), India’s pioneering food chain launched the “Fresh Food Trends Report 2018” to understand how urban India buys and consumes food. The report was launched with a panel discussion at its flagship new store in Juhu.

Spanning across several Indian cities, gender and age groups, the findings from this report, aim to delve deeper to understand behaviour and attitude towards home cooked food, grocery shopping and cooking.

The panel discussion featured eminent personalities from the world of food and fitness.  The panel included Amrita Raichand, Actor, Chef and TV Food Show Host, Saransh Goila, Celebrity Chef & creator of the popular series ‘Run to Eat’, Ayesha Billimoria, Track & Field Athlete, Captain Adidas Runners Mumbai and Avani Davda, Managing Director, Godrej Nature’s Basket.   Hrishikesh Kannan (popularly known as Hrishi K) RJ & Station Head – Radio One 94.3FM, Mumbai, was the moderator for this panel.

Speaking at the launch of the report at the new Nature’s Basket store in Juhu, Avani Davda, Managing Director, Godrej Nature’s Basket, said, “The Fresh Food Report findings are a testimony to our brand’s vision of being India’s freshest and finest food destination. With more than 50% Indians voting for home cooked fresh food, it is not surprising that close to 60% of our revenues come from the fresh category. It is also interesting to see that cooking at home has become a way for Indians with family and friends to come together.”

Avani further added, “It is an exciting time for the business, as our new brand promise of ‘Daily Food Delights’ comes to life to offer the freshest and finest abundant food experience to our customers.

Chef & Mommy host of popular kiddies food show, Amrita Raichand emphasized “It is extremely important for one to know how to cook male, female alike, it would always come in handy whether to aid the parents in cooking for their children or for a student to survive in dorms.” She further added, “Besides cooking being a stress buster, it can really get creative with the fusion of ingredients and produces that we now have at our disposal thanks to the formats as Godrej Nature’s Basket, which definitely enhances the taste palettes and makes food experience more interesting”.

Chef Saransh Goila highlighted that the report states over 77% people in India are most likely to have a home cooked breakfast followed by 69% having dinner and 64% having lunch cooked at home.

Ayesha Billimoria, trained athlete and panelist was of the opinion that sugar and fried food is a strict no-no, as they just empty calories which offer no energy, but drains the body of its strength and agility.  She also went on to state that instead of eating every 2hours as is the fad these days, eating the right amount of a balanced meal is most important.
