
“The feeling is still sinking in and am very happy of doing India proud. I’m also very excited about the year ahead.” says India’s Manushi Chillar winner of the coveted Miss World 2017 pageant.
Manushi further expressed, “My parents have been a constant pillar of support and having them here tonight has only brought me more strength and joy. My final answer came instantly as an ode to my loving mother who has stood her ground with her unwavering belief in me!”
This svelte Indian beauty is the sixth winner of the title since Priyanka Chopra won it in 2000 and previous to that Yukta Mookhey, Diana Haydon, Aishwarya Rai and Reita Faria were the winners of the title. All of who and other dignitaries and celebrities came forward to express their delight and congratulate Chhillar on her win.
Chhillar competed against 118 contestants from various countries at a glittering event held at Sanya City Arena in China.
Chhillar was handed the crown by last year’s winner, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico, at the ceremony. Stephanie Hill of England and Andrea Meza of Mexico finished as runners-up.
